Diet Pills Effects
I took diet pills to lose weight when I started hitting the 170 pounds in my weighing scale purely out of panic. I didn't bother asking my doctor about it since some of my friends seemed to have had some fairly good success with their recommendations. Naturally I tried the popular one at that time, Xenical, and I could say it worked but not without any undesirable effects, in fact embarrassing ones.
I lost about 2 pounds in one week but in that one week I also lost face from embarrassment. The diet pill worked by not absorbing the fat contents of my food intakes but I did not realize that it was something that could affect how I had to carry on with my daily activities. You see, the diet pill made me keep passing gas while at the office and everyone got their confirmation that the foul smell was coming from my cubicle because I was making a constant trip to the bathroom. It reduced me not in weight but in stature because some of my staff was actually snickering behind my back. So I stopped right on the first day, but the memory of my initial experience with the diet pill made me lose my appetite for a week, hence I lost two pounds.
It did not mean however that I stopped trying to lose weight altogether. I turned my attention to Atkins diet. The diet program was quite encouraging because it was more on about eating the right food and cutting down on calories. They have this list of acceptable foods and non-acceptable foods and all I had to do was cut down on the amount of my food intake and engage in some form of fat burning exercise and it will work.
I tried dieting as a form of natural weight loss method using the Atkins list of foods. When I was into phase 1, I found out that the idea is great only if you are not the one who is going through all the diet adjustments. You see, I had been used to eating hearty meals and it does not matter if I will be served with low calorie foods for as long as it will satiate my appetite, then I will feel good.
I could not pass the Atkins phase 1 diet because I could not stop myself into eating more than the required serving. I was good only for the 2nd day but on the third day all I could think of was food because I was feeling famished. So I thought since they are low in calories, there would be no harm in getting twice the serving suggestions. By the fourth day, I was eating thrice the suggested servings, albeit low calorie. Naturally, at the end of Phase 1, I barely tipped the targeted weight. In fact, I did not even manage to lose a full pound of weight.
Someone at the Atkins forum site suggested that I take a diet pill (again), this time the appetite suppressant type. I was told however to use the one with natural ingredients like Hoodia and specifically not Phentermine because the two diet pills although both appetite suppressants worked differently. I mulled over this for days and I was thinking it might work because I experienced losing my appetite for about a week when I took the diet pill Xenical and because it made me feel depressed.
So now what, do I have to get depressed just to lose weight? I heard the diet pills for suppressants worked on the brain and affected your cravings for food.
This time I asked my doctor for advice and he gave his go signal for Hoodia. I just had to make sure that I was buying the real thing and keep eating the real food. So for the Phase 1 of the Atkins diet, I tried it again but this time I took the Hoodia diet pills to suppress my appetite and it worked. I achieved 4-pound weight loss in the first week. But not without any problem though as I was feeling dizzy and a bit nauseous and I was alarmed that it was because of the diet pill.
Now I was really feeling desperate because it seems there are no available methods for me to lose weight. Nevertheless, I continued with the Phase II of the Atkins diet and tried to carry on with it even without the aid of the diet pill, since I suspected it of causing me all those dizzy spells. I managed to get on with the first day of Phase II by sticking to the portion size servings and without a diet pill to suppress my appetite. I was still feeling dizzy still so I consulted my doctor who approved of my stopping with the diet pill.
However when I posted this at the forum site, I was told that I was just experiencing the side effects of "Carb Withdrawal" My body was just adjusting to the changes I made with my diet. They told me that if I can manage to continue with the diet program without taking an anti-suppressant then it will be for the best. I struggled with the Phase II diet program by taking only the Hoodia diet pill once on the third day but I was able to lose another 2 pounds without depending on the diet pill. This of course made me feel good in spite of the occasional dizzy spells which eventually went away when I entered Phase III.
Needless to say the diet program worked with a little help from the diet pill. Actually it was quite hard at first because I struggled between taking a diet pill or not every time I had a strong craving for more food. But the though of experiencing possible side effects altogether seemed to naturally affect me into losing my appetite.
Natural weight loss method won over being reliant on diet pills and I kept my diet according to Atkins program. I developed a liking for outdoor activities because it made me feel light-hearted and made me lose weight faster. Now I am down to 110 pounds, wearing a size 12 dress and on my way to being promoted to the next grade level of my supervisory status at the call center I work for.
Diet pills work but not all of them will produce the right results. The natural diet pill Hoodia works without side effects but I managed to get the same effect of suppressing my appetite through sheer will power which was the only thing I lacked during the initial stages. I guess this story about my weight loss is about a combination of everything in order to make things work and not all those hype about a diet program or a diet pill effects.

Diet Plans

Diet Plans
Hi everyone, my name is Sheree and I cannot seem to decide which diet plan story I would like to share with you. I have been through almost all types of diet plans; some old, some new, some worked and some did not. I had been placed on diet plans by my mother and our family doctor since I was fourteen years old because I was alarmingly enormous.
Young as I was then, I even had fun cheating on my mother and her diet plans for me. It made the idea of eating behind her back fun and exciting. My mother had actually given up on me with all her diet plans because nothing seemed to work.
My obesity hit me one day like a bolt of lightning. After graduating from high school, I could not find work, not even as a babysitter. People who interviewed me somehow had the impression that I was slow and not capable of responding quickly to situations. I finally understood why my mother was doing everything she can except put me on diet pills, just to make me lose weight. Even if I went to college and earned myself a degree, I would have a hard time looking for a job and build a career because my obesity will be the first thing noticeable about me.
I went into some self assessment and established the reasons what made me cheat on the diet plans before and listed them down. I can say that by doing this I was able to come up with my own diet plan:
1. Losing weight should be something that I really wanted for myself and not just my mother wanting it for me. By this, it meant I should have a personal commitment to follow my diet plan, to eat in small portions and to eat only what was prescribed or recommended.
2. I had to set a realistic weight loss goal and not just the idea of losing all the pounds I was carrying. By realistic, it meant gradual wherein I started to aim even for just one to two pounds in the first week.
3. I had to set the number of calorie intakes and for this, I asked our family doctor for help. My doctor said it was not just a matter of limiting my calories; it was also a matter of burning an equivalent amount of calories per day. So if my goal was realistically set at one pound per week, I should take in 1500 calories and burn 2000 per day. This meant I will be using up all the 1500 calories I ate and the 500 hundred calorie deficit will be charged against my stored fat.
4. I had to have an exercise that I enjoyed doing. By engaging in something I really liked, my mind felt less pressured about the calories I had to burn. If there is any sport that I love it is swimming, but because I did not fit well in swimsuits I hardly go to pool facilities for fear of being ridiculed. I solved my problem by looking for an affordable gym with swimming pool facilities. This way the environment will be more private and more obese-friendly.
5. I researched the net for some food lists that had an equivalent calorie per serving. I found a good one and from there I found acceptable foods that I like to eat. One of the reasons I often cheated with the diet plans mom had for me was that they were mostly food I did not like, particularly the vegetables. Since I was not doing much, I made my own diet plans by modifying some of the menus my mom came up with years ago. If I had to eat in portions, it was at least something I like to eat. I showed it to my doctor who approved of it with some minor adjustments to make sure I get a balanced diet.
6. One advice I got from forums was to make sure my diet meal was always available, otherwise you will resort to looking for alternatives and eventually cheat on your diet plan and then lose it altogether.
7. I finally weighed myself and established my weight at a staggering 240 pounds and only 17 years old. I went down to 135 after 15 months of eating and exercising around the diet plan I made. It was not easy at first, but the more weight I lost, the more encouraged I became. Before the year was up I was wearing some of my moms dresses and pants.
Diet plans are only good as far as your personal commitment is concerned. The diet plan my mom made me work on was not effective because they were mostly food and activities I did not like. Every diet plan should fit your own personal preferences and you are the only person who knows what they are. It is a long struggle at first, but if you came up with the plans you will know how to adjust. If you eat more then strive to burn more which you will learn to do in time once you get your system adjusted to your diet plan.
This summer, I am about to board a cruise ship as a staff for the fun club and activity center for kids. Thanks to all those hours of daily swimming exercises, I was accepted as a lifeguard for the swimming pool for kids

The DASH Diet
by Valerie Ann Murphy- Work-at-Home Wife and Mom
(Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin)
The DASH Diet
I noticed that some of the stories shared here recently are about different diets, so I am now sharing my own which is about the DASH Diet. DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. I am making this clear first because some people thought along that this is just another one of those fad diets. Hypertension as we all know is high blood pressure and being overweight or obese has a lot of relevance to hypertension.
You see, I used to weight 185 pounds of mostly fat and flab which I gained when I gave birth to my first child. I was only thirty-two years old when my blood pressure reached 150/80. My doctor said it was all a carry over from my pregnancy which I was never able to bring back to normal because I kept gaining more weight instead of losing some. The feelings of dizziness and nausea plus the sound of something buzzing in my ear made me really scared. I was experiencing the immediate symptoms of hypertension. In fact my doctor diagnosed it as a mild stroke attack.
I was having the happiest time of my life taking care of my baby and the thought of not being fit and healthy for my little one was something that shook me out of my stubbornness. I finally decided to take on my doctors advice of getting into the DASH diet. A year after my pregnancy, my doctor already told me about this diet program but I also thought it was just a fad. In fact I was expecting my doctor to sell me something but he explained that it was a solution recommended by the National Institutes of Health to manage hypertension.
By changing my eating habits altogether, my blood pressure will normalize and at the same time result to weight reduction. It was my very obesity that was causing my hypertension since my blood circulation was affected by hardening arterial vessels and lack of viscosity in my blood. This meant that the quality of my blood was too thick with fat content to be readily absorbed by my blood cells.
This was how my doctor explained it to me as to why there is a great relationship between being obese and having hypertension. He said that pressure points in some areas were caused by blood that could not flow freely while my heart continues to pump and function normally, releasing pressure for the blood to surge forward.
Starting with the DASH Diet:
1. To my surprise, it was not so hard to get started because the change did not have to be abrupt. I had no problems with the vegetables since I just came out pregnancy, vegetables and fruits comprised a great deal of my meal. It was the salad dressing and the salt part that had to change. I had to cut back by at least half and at the same time use fat-free salad dressings.
2. The coke and soda had to go, because the Dash Diet wanted me to drink more of the low fat milk. Kicking off the soft drinks habit was the hardest part because I really found my meals more enjoyable if I had them. But then again I was able to convince myself that I was on a diet and I guess the diet will be more effective if I did not enjoy my meals.
3. I had no issues with eating less meat either, but if ever I had a desire for meat it was for the marbled portion wherein the soft gelatinous fats are in-between the meat grains. So if I cannot have those, I did not eat beef at all because it only made me crave for the taste I was so used to. I stayed with white meat, fish and occasional lean meat.
4. Since my meals were altogether beginning to lack appeal and all, eating in portions seemed to come naturally. Everything had to be unsalted, use of butter was always just a hint and salad dressings were bland.
5. I always snacked on something though because working around the house and looking after a toddler could really make me hungry. I kept some dried fruits, dates and raisins mostly, banana, fruit-flavored yogurt, graham crackers always handy and ready, then wash them down with a glass of low-fat milk. In fact, I began to like the habit of eating less of the big meals
6. Now the workouts were important. I was glad it did not have to be something strenuous but just something to keep my blood circulating properly. Since my kid was just a toddler then, I had to do a lot of running after. I was getting better at it because I was feeling lighter and lighter. In fact the improvement I noticed was more on how I was able to do more work in the house by not feeling so sluggish. Whereas before when I was 185 pounds, it took a lot of effort for me to get up and my breathing was always labored.
Everything is a lot different now and by changing to a healthier eating lifestyle, I was able to incorporate healthy cooking instead of influencing my husband with my food preferences. Before DASH, my food preparations were always rich and savory, with thick sauces and rich dressings. Actually, my husband and I soon developed a liking for the natural taste of vegetables. Less salt was not so bad after all because it allowed me to savor natural flavors and I forgot the meaning of the words bland-tasting altogether.
What I recommend is for everyone to try the DASH Diet because it is all a matter of adopting healthy eating habits. Waiting until you develop some kind of disorder is just like putting your life on the line. I learned that I was lucky I was able to come out of my hypertension with only a mild stroke attack.
My doctor said it could have been worse if I had been less active, like working in an office where I had to seat all day, The fact that I worked at home and did some house chores aside from taking care of my toddler lessened the impact of my unhealthy eating habits. Today at 115 pounds, my blood pressure remains stable at 110/80 and I maintain calorie intakes at 1,500 per day because I live an active lifestyle as a work-at-home housewife and hands on mother to an active 4 year-old boy.
The greatest benefit I got from DASH Diet is that it got us prepared for recession. It hit us at the time when my husband and I was already used to eating portion sizes; now we are having more veggies, white meat and fish more than ever and it is something we have been used to for quite some time now.

Acai Berry Diet Pills and Juice
by Constance Landry- Legal Secretary
(San Diego, California )
Acai Berry Diet Pills and Juice
Since most of the recent posts here are about some of the hyped-up diet programs or pills, I would like to share this one about Acai Berry Diet pills or Acai Berry Juice. What I can say about it is that if you are going to take them, do not expect miracles to happen particularly regarding your weight loss problem. The Acai Berry Diet pills or juice did not give me any health benefits that I could not get from a generic pill of ascorbic acid or any kind of fruit juice for that matter.
They said to take it in conjunction with a diet program but it produced the same results for me too, nothing. I currently observe a diet which is a cross between Atkins Diet and DASH diet and they are already effective as they are because I achieved weight reductions not with spectacular results but in steady levels between one to two pounds per week My friend persuaded me into trying it so it can help speed up my weight loss through its fat burning properties. Although skeptical, I bought one of each but begged off from being recruited into becoming a seller of Acai Berry Diet products.
In my opinion, I think the scam part, is in hyping up the product as something that can provide weight loss benefits then convincing job-seeking people that you can earn a lot by selling a product that can work wonders.
The parade of testimonials from celebrities like Oprah and the likes; their before and after experience were many. The would-be seller of the Acai Berry Diet pills and juice will use them as materials for convincing her would-be buyers. Well, the only negative part is, as a seller you will have to pay some form of registration fee so you can have promotional materials and a free bottle of each product which you can use as sample.
You can earn more if you can recruit more people to sell the Acai Berry products and they will be called your down liners. You will earn from their recruits and their sale of the Acai Berry Diet pills and juice. There were shows of photocopied checks earned by the top sellers of the Acai Berry Diet pills and juice and how they were able to buy a luxury car or house out of these earnings.
All these benefits of course will not materialize because Acai Berry Diet products may have some good effects but it is not something that you cannot get from buying an ordinary bottle of a Vitamin C supplement or drinking any health giving natural juice. There is no notable weight loss effect either.
How many of us who were convinced into buying a bottle found nothing extraordinary about the effect particularly about weight loss? Personally I was no longer interested in buying another bottle since it was just additional costs not worth the price I paid for. Besides, there were already different brands of Acai Berry Diet pills and juice being sold in drugstores at lower prices. Why buy from an independent retailer who does not have the same reputation as drugstores when it comes to selling quality branded products prepared in the most hygienic method?
If you will research further in the net, you will learn that the Acai Berry Diet pills and juice were only extracts of Acai Berry fruits. According to medical experts, you will get only the same effects you get from an ordinary vitamin supplement. The weight loss part will also be attributable to your own discipline of eating the right kind of food and proper exercises. My sentiments exactly, that is the exact way I can describe the effects of Acai Berry Diet pills and Acai berry juice for me, nothing extraordinary or significant.

From Diabetes to Beauty

From diabetes pageants.
Name: Jill Knapp Age: 42 Height: 5'8" Before weight: 237 How I gained it: During my first pregnancy, I gained 50 pounds, and after childbirth, my weight gradually began increasing. As with most women, I became busy with life and forgot the importance of taking care of myself. I was young, and my body didn't feel the extra 100 pounds I had gradually put on over the years. I had bad eating habits, no time for exercise and no real desire to be healthy.
Breaking point: I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy at age 37. I was having headaches after the pregnancy and just not feeling well, I thought it was from having a sick newborn. Finally, at six months, I went to see the doctor to be checked for the headaches, and I found out I had put on 15 extra pounds. It was so depressing. I also found out I have Type 2 diabetes that was even more depressing. I was determined right then that I was going to get the weight off, and I did! My husband and kids mean the world to me. Being able to live a long life was an important factor and motivation to lose the weight. In January 2008, I even broke my ankle on both sides after slipping on black ice, I had to have surgery and 6 screws put in my fibula. I was still so determined I was still able to lose the weight -- my mind was made up that no matter what, it was coming off.
How I lost it: I logged my food, ate six small meals a day and had no refined sugar. Finding out I had Type 2 diabetes helped me have a paradigm shift in the way I think, and I did a lifestyle change versus a diet. Four days a week, cardio mixed with weight training was my exercise routine. In January, I had a personal trainer sponsor Rebecca Carington training sessions to get ready for the Mrs. Idaho pageant. It was wonderful to learn from a trainer, she really cared about me and saw the potential I could reach and I did. I did the Mrs. Idaho pageant after losing a total of 100 pounds, and I made the top six out of 16 amazing woman. I am also now a motivational speaker to motivate others to lose weight and get healthy. I am a diabetes advocate. It brings me great joy to share my story with others -- and in doing so, I inspire them to "get up and get moving!" Visit my web site www.getupandgetmoving.net to get motivated today. Grapefruit Diet Plan
by Moira Andersen- Physical Therapist
(Twin Valley, Minnesota )
Grapefruit diet plan
Have you tried the Grapefruit Diet Plan? I have and in all fairness I can say the diet works, except for the fact that it does not work for keeps. I went and followed the grapefruit food plan for 12 days and lost about 6 pounds instead of the 10 pounds that some people were able to achieve. Anyway, 6 pounds were good enough for someone who never had the experience of losing weight for quite some time. I think the reason this diet is not recommended for long term is because it does not promote a balanced diet.
It was okay when I started out with the first round of the 12-day Grapefruit diet, and then rested from the diet for 2 days by eating some of the veggies I missed like potatoes, carrots and cabbage which I often included in my beef stew. Naturally, I gained back almost two pounds because even with the Grapefruit Diet, there were no instructions to eat in portions. Actually you have to eat until you are full because the grapefruit juice is said to have natural fat loss burning effect. This means I never really kicked the habit of eating until I was satisfied.
Sample Grapefruit Diet
Just to give you a better illustration, here is a sample of the grapefruit diet I tried:
• For breakfast, an 8 ounce glass of unsweetened grapefruit juice plus a cup of coffee. Two slices of bacon, wherein I opted for turkey bacon because I was not too fond of greasy food. Two eggs which I preferred scrambled and the Grapefruit diet allows the use of butter.
• Lunch meant another glass of 8 ounces of grapefruit juice. Salad but not the salad greens I preferred but was more on broccoli, radish, and spinach types which I was really not fond of. So even if the diet said there was no limit to the veggies, it did not matter since my lack of fondness for it did not make me have more than one serving. Meat which could be anything lean which I ate much of until I felt more than full;
• Dinner saw another glass of 8-ounce grapefruit. I was still stuck with spinach and broccoli until I totally gave up on the vegetables. I more than made up for the lack of vegetables by eating more meat in different varieties, like baked chicken breast or fish fillet since butter is allowed;
• A glass of skimmed milk before retiring to bed;
Now here are the reasons why I stopped with the diet altogether:
1. I felt like I did not have the energy to exercise. Actually, I preferred exercise in burning fats over not eating some of the energy giving foods. I found out later that the Grapefruit diet contained only 1,000 calories and even less because I did not have many vegetables. 2. I went into bouts of constipation for lack of fiber foods which gave me more feelings of heaviness.
3. The two days of rest from the diet made me eat more of the food restricted during the 12-day Grapefruit program. I binged on everything I missed especially the carbo-foods like bread, cereals, pasta, potatoes and lots of cheese.
4. I developed sensitivity in my teeth because of two much grapefruit acid.
5. The whole diet program was expensive because I tended to buy more meat to satisfy my hunger, unlike in my regular meals which had some starchy foods especially for breakfast and a portion can keep me satisfied.
The end result is that the Grapefruit diet works with only minimal results. My weight was erratic but it never really went down. How I see it is that this kind of diet works only for a crash course program. If you’re looking for one that can really help you cut down on your calories, try Atkins Diet because the list of acceptable foods in this program was more of the type that one would ordinarily eat. The diet part about Atkins program is being conscious of your calorie intakes. It is also more concerned in keeping a regular exercise to burn off the fats you have previously stored to achieve weight loss.

Raw Food Diet
by Caroline Bendell- Money Exchange Teller
(Philadelphia, PA)
Raw Food Diet
I am a sucker for fad diets and Raw Food Diet is said to be one of the best so I tried it. It does work because I did lose about 8 pounds after the 30th day. In fact my blood pressure normalized at 110/70. I liked the taste of the smoothies made from 2 bananas, 2 cups greens, 1 cup water. I enjoyed munching on the nuts on the way to the office. I liked the initial results. But it was only good while the determination lasted and when other health problems do not start showing up.
Getting yourself into a diet is hard enough and for me it is even harder still if my choices of food became limited. I took the Raw Food diet thinking that I had a wide range of raw vegetables and fruits to choose from. Apparently not, there is the issue about what is in season and what was organically grown. Farm fresh was the best but who could always have farm fresh during winter? I tried to make good with the diet but for the following reasons, I stopped altogether:
1. In a Raw Food Diet, the availability of suitable raw food was my first main problem. There are a lot of vegetables to choose from but I am afraid of eating just any raw vegetables because of the pesticides issue. So I always had to look for the organic types; in fact they are exactly the type of vegetables recommended. 2. The preference for organic fruits and vegetables also meant my food budget was getting higher because organically grown produce are more expensive, which I find hard to understand why. Anyway since it was for a good cause I tried to put up with the cost for awhile.
3. Food preparation was becoming too tedious. Even if they are organic there is still a lot of scrubbing to do because there is the danger of e-coli from the manure fertilizer. Unlike if the vegetables were at least stir fried the high heat in this cooking process could kill some of the remaining bacteria. I guess blenders cannot kill bacteria.
4. In Raw Food Diet, not only was my cost of food getting higher but so was my electric bill for the frequency with which I was using the blender.
5. Now the health issues: my dentist did not approve my constant munching of nuts and flax seeds. It showed in my teeth when I visited the dentist due to some teeth sensitivity problem. My dentist said I was wearing away my teeth at twice the speed for constantly grinding and chewing on the nuts.
6. The teeth sensitivity was due to too much fruit acids. Aside from wearing out my teeth I was also weakening it by too much acid passing and staying in my mouth. I was thinning out the surface enamel. So it appears that my teeth are not going to last me a lifetime if I were to keep with the raw food diet as a permanent eating habit.
7. My blood pressure went lower than 110/70 and went into 90/50 which was the ?last straw that broke the camels back? so to speak because my doctor said that it was a dangerous level. I was still overweight at 130 pounds. No wonder I was always feeling weak and dizzy, in fact even fuzzy at times. My doctor told me to go back to a healthier form of eating because the weight loss I was achieving was not worth the health condition I was developing.
8. He diagnosed me as nutritionally deficient. What he tried to explain to me was that the body had to have a balance of everything even with salt or sodium. If I ate bananas more often I had more potassium than calcium and sodium. The latter two was lacking in my raw food diet. Not having a balance of all these nutrients will result to low blood flow and fewer blood absorption in my blood cells.
9. However, he gave me advice to go back into regular eating gradually or I will have another problem in my hands. So I heeded my doctors advice by gradually adding low calorie salad dressing and some salt. Began drinking low fat milk again and started adding cooked meat and eggs.
Today I cannot say that I am fit and trim because I am still a little heavy at 132 pounds but I can say I am healthier and happier. I still eat raw vegetables but no longer worry if it is organic because I also eat them stir fried or at least half-cooked. I just keep watching over my calorie intakes at 1500 per day. I try to be more active with some weekend exercises and by walking a bit faster. I made up my mind not to punish myself with another fad diet and just eat the right food in the right amount. No more food binges either because I realized that it is all a matter of self-discipline. I still hope to lose weight because I still work on it, the only difference is, I am no longer in a hurry to achieve it with a big bang.

3-Day Tuna Diet
by Thelma Davids Dippold- Drugstore Pharmacist
(Portland, Oregon )
3-Day Tuna Diet
Since diet seems to be the topic here lately, it might interest you to learn something about the 3-day Tuna Diet. Rather than call it a fad diet, I would rather classify it as a short term diet plan. Fad is something that is up and popular for awhile then goes pfft and nothing will be heard about it anymore except for a few mention. Surprisingly, the 3-day Tuna Diet has been around for quite some time; 1990 is about the earliest year I can remember and a lot of weight watchers are still using it. The emphasis here is about weight-watchers and not desperate weight-losers.
Back in the early nineties, I used to work as a medical representative for a pharmaceutical company. It was a fun job for me because I was assigned to a particular geographical area to handle the promotion and booking of pharmaceutical products and supplies for the company I represented. It was a nice job in the sense that I went to see different places and tasted different kinds of local foods that sometimes made me gain weight in the process.
Now, I learned about the 3-day Tuna Diet from one of the local nurses and how she uses it as her crash course for losing weight. Since we were both weight watchers and weight conscious yet engaged in occasional binges, she shared with me her 3-day Tuna Diet plan. It was effective as a method of losing extra pounds gained due to occasional over-indulgence or usually during the colder months.
When spring and summer started ushering in great weather conditions to do some fun outdoor activities, I had to lose some of the pounds I gained so I can fit back into my spring and summer outfits. Actually weight loss was a must before summer arrived because my skimpy beach outfits needed more than just fitting in but form as well. The 3-day Tuna Diet was a lot of help during those summer months.
However some people thought that this was a great diet plan even for those who are excessively overweight. This was a misconception of course, because the 3-day Tuna Diet was not nutritionally sound if you were to follow it for a long period of time. Besides, the food plan was something you can stand for only three days then repeated after four days until you achieve your ideal weight. Once the weight-watcher attains the weight goal then she goes back to watching what she eats and controlling her calorie intakes.
People who have a lot of excessive weight to lose will find it hard to achieve weight loss using the 3-day Tuna Diet. It is only a short-term plan wherein you achieve weight loss only because you stop taking calories for three days just to hasten weight reduction. Together with some good form of exercise it will work, like it did for me during my younger days and stint as a med rep. The body however still needs calories to sustain it as fuel for the activities of the day. Naturally, it would be impossible to use the 3-day Tuna Diet permanently or for a long term at the least. The 3-day Tuna Diet is a short term or crash course diet and it is effective for that purpose. That is why this diet has not gone out of circulation ever since it was conceptualized. The funny thing is, there is no one in particular to attribute this diet to and is not backed ?up by some books or publications.
I finally settled down, got married and became in charge of cooking our family meals. It meant everything was kept balanced and in proper portions, thus I had no reason to use the 3-day Tuna Diet anymore. Even if I gained weight after pregnancy, all I needed was a regimen of fat burning exercises to shed off the unwanted pounds. I hardly went into food binges anymore probably for lack of opportunity or money because having a family to raise and take care of also made a difference.
The bottom line is that nothing beats eating a balanced diet. The weight you gain from occasional indulgence in food is easy to lose by adhering to short term diet plans like the 3-day Tuna Diet or its substitute because some people use fish, chicken or tofu as a good substitute.
