Negative Effects of Exercise
What are the negative effect of exercise on the body? People who have strong resolve to keep their exercise regimen experience feelings of well-being and happiness. Studies show that exercise can positively influence a person's mental outlook by giving a person a natural "high" or uplifting of emotions. So much so that some people get addicted to it and thus overdoing the whole process involved. Their regimens then become less beneficial to the point that they will experience more of the negative effects of exercise on the body.
We all learned from experience that too much of everything is harmful and despite of its benefits there are negative effects of exercise we should be aware of. Generally the disadvantage of having too much exercise stems from the fact that our body will produce too much cortisol. This is the hormone that keeps us energetic. It tends to increase our metabolism which will tap most of the body's available calories including those stored as fat cells.
This is initially good and will result to weight loss but once you overdo your workouts that will be the time that the negative effects of exercise will set in. Your body will be seeking its own energy sources and often find them in your muscles; thus depriving them of the fat that they also need. Unless you supplement your body with sufficient nutrition to supply your body's demand, too much exercise will cause an imbalance in your daily dietary requirements. This of course will make your immune system weak and will lead to all sorts of health disorders. These then are the negative effects of exercises:
1. In exercising, you tendons, ligaments, muscles and bones will experience an overdose of straining, pulling and other forms of distresses they could not recuperate from. A continuous barrage of workouts will inhibit your body cells from self-repair and regeneration of new ones.
2. You heart and its muscles and arteries will experience the same thing if you tend to overwork it into producing more blood for more oxygen.
3. The negative effects of exercise will also visit your immune system, making you vulnerable into contracting common colds. In this day and age, a strong immune system is important due to the high presence of air pollutants and airborne viruses.
4. You may be exercising in order to achieve weight loss but even this should be supervised by a fitness expert if not a physician. Exercise that is not met with proper nutrition and rest will have a debilitating effect. This can lead to loss of appetite or an abnormal aversion to food and eventually cause bulimia which at worst can lead to death.
5. Some women experience the negative effects of exercise through a condition known as amenorrhea. This is a disorder related to cessation of menstrual cycle for at least three months wherein the woman is still expected to have them and that pregnancy has been established as not the main reason. Most women athletes experience this kind of disorder because their body has low fat content. In worst cases wherein amenorrhea will persist for more than 5 years, irreversible bone loss can be expected.
6. As a person who used to have a bright and sunny disposition brought about by proper exercise, the development of obsession or addiction to it will transform you into a depressed and irritable person which could change your whole physical outlook. Often, the physical change will be unbecoming and highly noticeable which will subsequently instill in you a feeling of low self-esteem.
There are a lot more of these negative effects of exercise since one negative effect will result into a host of chain reactions. This is why there is a constant advice for individuals to always seek their physician's advice or an instructor's guidance when planning to engage in any form of exercise.
