3-Day Tuna Diet
Since diet seems to be the topic here lately, it might interest you to learn something about the 3-day Tuna Diet. Rather than call it a fad diet, I would rather classify it as a short term diet plan. Fad is something that is up and popular for awhile then goes pfft and nothing will be heard about it anymore except for a few mention. Surprisingly, the 3-day Tuna Diet has been around for quite some time; 1990 is about the earliest year I can remember and a lot of weight watchers are still using it. The emphasis here is about weight-watchers and not desperate weight-losers.
Back in the early nineties, I used to work as a medical representative for a pharmaceutical company. It was a fun job for me because I was assigned to a particular geographical area to handle the promotion and booking of pharmaceutical products and supplies for the company I represented. It was a nice job in the sense that I went to see different places and tasted different kinds of local foods that sometimes made me gain weight in the process.
Now, I learned about the 3-day Tuna Diet from one of the local nurses and how she uses it as her crash course for losing weight. Since we were both weight watchers and weight conscious yet engaged in occasional binges, she shared with me her 3-day Tuna Diet plan. It was effective as a method of losing extra pounds gained due to occasional over-indulgence or usually during the colder months.
When spring and summer started ushering in great weather conditions to do some fun outdoor activities, I had to lose some of the pounds I gained so I can fit back into my spring and summer outfits. Actually weight loss was a must before summer arrived because my skimpy beach outfits needed more than just fitting in but form as well. The 3-day Tuna Diet was a lot of help during those summer months.
However some people thought that this was a great diet plan even for those who are excessively overweight. This was a misconception of course, because the 3-day Tuna Diet was not nutritionally sound if you were to follow it for a long period of time. Besides, the food plan was something you can stand for only three days then repeated after four days until you achieve your ideal weight. Once the weight-watcher attains the weight goal then she goes back to watching what she eats and controlling her calorie intakes.
People who have a lot of excessive weight to lose will find it hard to achieve weight loss using the 3-day Tuna Diet. It is only a short-term plan wherein you achieve weight loss only because you stop taking calories for three days just to hasten weight reduction. Together with some good form of exercise it will work, like it did for me during my younger days and stint as a med rep. The body however still needs calories to sustain it as fuel for the activities of the day. Naturally, it would be impossible to use the 3-day Tuna Diet permanently or for a long term at the least.
The 3-day Tuna Diet is a short term or crash course diet and it is effective for that purpose. That is why this diet has not gone out of circulation ever since it was conceptualized. The funny thing is, there is no one in particular to attribute this diet to and is not backed ?up by some books or publications.
I finally settled down, got married and became in charge of cooking our family meals. It meant everything was kept balanced and in proper portions, thus I had no reason to use the 3-day Tuna Diet anymore. Even if I gained weight after pregnancy, all I needed was a regimen of fat burning exercises to shed off the unwanted pounds. I hardly went into food binges anymore probably for lack of opportunity or money because having a family to raise and take care of also made a difference.
The bottom line is that nothing beats eating a balanced diet. The weight you gain from occasional indulgence in food is easy to lose by adhering to short term diet plans like the 3-day Tuna Diet or its substitute because some people use fish, chicken or tofu as a good substitute.
